The Plan
New World is part of the Foodstuffs North Island co-operative, and every store is independently owned and operated while still carrying nationally consistent branding. That combination is exactly why supermarket signage can’t be treated like a generic sign order. The finished result has to:
- Match the brand’s exact colours, fonts, and proportions
- Meet the standards expected of a national retail brand
- Stand up to sun, rain, wind, and coastal-influenced Bay of Plenty conditions
- Be installed safely, often while the store stays open and trading
Every replacement job starts on site. Our team visited New World Kawerau to assess the existing signage, take accurate measurements of the building fascia, and check the mounting points, power supply, and access requirements.
The existing signs were faded and had outdated branding which did not match the interior signs we had relpaced.
This stage matters more than people expect. Measuring the fascia properly, understanding how the old signage was fixed, and identifying any surprises behind the panels is what prevents delays later.
The Execution
The install took place over a couple of days with three of our signwriters for the main fascia portion and was completed during an entire reclad of the building so we had safe access from existing scaffolding.
The CNC cut 3D sign was produced with PVC sign board and New World brand coloured Signbond ACM (aluminum composite panel) which carry a 10-year manufacturers warranty but have a real world lifetime rating of 15 to 30 years (depending on environmental exposure).
The signs had been mounted with S-5 roofing brackets which are certified to pass the ASTM E2140 test (up to 12cm under water, with no leakage), perfect for use on a commercial site and ensuring these signs remain sturdy for many years to come.
The Outcome
Exterior building signage is an investment, and it should look as good in five years as it does on install day. That’s why material selection, colour stability, and quality fabrication matter so much on a project like this – and why leading brands choose an experienced local team rather than the cheapest option.
The result: crisp, brand-accurate building signage that gives New World Kawerau a sharp, professional presence for the Eastern Bay of Plenty community.
